What You’ll Love…

The Sites – From Beijing to Shanghai and so much more in between

Begin your whirlwind journey in the sprawling capital of Beijing itself, rich with six UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites. Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and more. Explore the winding alleys - or 'hutongs' - of the local Beijing neighbourhoods from the back of a traditional rickshaw and learn all about the history of China’s most celebrated stone, jade, from a local merchant.

Travel north of Beijing and be captivated by the sight of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Great Wall of China, which dates back as far as the 7th century BCE and is truly a wonder to behold.

Experience the famous bullet train with a trip from Beijing to the striking and culturally-acclaimed Hangzhou – one of China’s most popular tourist destinations. Discover the stunning West Lake, a literary inspiration since the 9th century and arguably one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. Witness the striking temples, traditional pagodas, vibrant gardens and old-world tea plantations. Visit one of these traditional Chinese tea plantations that’ll teach you about the picking and processing of tea.

Lightly dubbed “the Venice of China”, Suzhou is known for its canals, bridges and landscaped gardens. Stroll the charming pathways of the Master of Nets Garden – one of China’s finest gardens and a popular tourist attraction – as you discover the incredible fusion of nature, Orient architecture and traditional art.

Marvel at the ancient city wall of Xi’an, which dates back to the 14th century and is one of the best-preserved walls in China, located at the end of the historic Silk Road. Whilst in Xi’an, you’ll also visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Giant Wild Goose Pagoda - a Buddhist monument dating back to the year 652.

Discover the irresistible energy of Shanghai on a city tour incorporating Shanghai Museum – one of China’s most celebrated museums – the buzzing Xin Tian Di entertainment district and the famous waterfront strip The Bund, a melting pot of architectural influences. Learn about the fascinating history of silk manufacturing with a chance to peruse China's most famous silk factory that’ll have you learning about the process and its importance in Chinese culture.

Embark on a trip to the site of the famed Terracotta Warriors – a massive collection of sculptures depicting the armies of the first emperor of China and dating back to the third century BCE – and discover the story behind this UNESCO World Heritage-listed site from an experienced local tour guide.

The Cruise – Four unforgettable nights cruising the Yangtze River

Embark on a four-night cruise of the majestic Yangtze River – Asia’s longest river and the world’s third-longest – which flows solely through China and boasts strong ties to the country’s history, economy and culture.

Marvel at the colossal scale of the Three Gorges Dam, the biggest hydropower project in the world; soak up the dramatic scenery of the Shennong Stream, which flows through three beautiful gorges – see if you can spot the traditional hanging coffins of the Tujia ethnic group hidden along the banks – and stop at the historical site of Shibaozhai, rising from the banks of the river, with its nine-storey red pagoda leading to a temple at the top of the hill.
